Officer Kevin Briggs
Kevin Briggs is a highway patrol officer in California (now retired) who is nicknamed the “Guardian of the Golden Gate Bridge.” Throughout his police career, he successfully saved over two hundred people from jumping off of the Golden Gate Bridge. Briggs stated that a typical conversation started by asking how they were doing then following with what their plans were for the next day. If they had no plans, then Briggs would make plans for them. In 2013, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention presented Briggs with a public service award in suicide prevention in 2013.
